PLATO: Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test

PLATO Description

Using the PLATO software—the Simulated Test System and PLATO Web Learning Network—you will be able to:

  • Take the practice exams for Reading, Mathematics, and Writing
  • Discover your areas of relative strength and weakness
  • Complete a set of lessons which constitute a tailored prescription for what YOU need to practice in order to increase your knowledge and skills in preparation for the ACTUAL PPST exam

PLATO Registration

To take advantage of this software, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Log on to the PLATO website using Internet Explorer (the site isn’t optimized for Firefox): http://www.platoweb.com
  2. Register yourself for the PLATO system using the authentication information here.
  3. Click on self-enroll. Now you will be prompted to create your personal account with your information. Click the Send button and you’ll be registered.
  1. You will need to download the appropriate plug-ins when you are prompted.

PLATO Testing

To take a test:

  1. Log on to the PLATO website using Internet Explorer (the site isn’t optimized for Firefox): http://www.platoweb.com
  2. Log yourself into the PLATO system using the authentication information here.
  3. Enter YOUR username, PPST as Group Name, and YOUR password.
  4. Click on PLATO Simulated Test System. On the next page, click Test Administration. On the next page, scroll down and click District Tests. Finally, choose Language Arts or Mathematics.
  5. When you’ve entered your subject category, your first test should always be the Exemptive tests, which will score you and create practice areas for you depending on your test results. Take the exemptive test and then go through the exercises in these practice areas.
  1. Take the Non-exemptive (Practice) exam. You may take this as many times as you wish.

Accounts will remain active until June 30 of the academic year you registered.
